Prior to founding eCom, Fred held senior leadership positions at CheckFree Corporation, where from 1994 to 2005 he helped to grow the organization from a small, privately held bill payment processor with 200,000 electronic bill paying consumers to a multichannel financial services technology corporation sold in December 2007 for $4.2 billion in cash.
Fred developed CheckFree's internal Strategy organization, providing consulting on market and competitive differentiation, product strategy, new business development, key account strategies, pricing, competitive intelligence, business cases, industry analyst relationship management, strategic partnership negotiations, and merger and acquisition evaluations. While Fred was head of Strategy, CheckFree completed $780 million of acquisitions.
He was a primary author of the company’s first five-year electronic commerce strategic plan. An electronic bill pay visionary, he is able to fuse analytics and extensive industry knowledge, visualizing future market evolution, often long before others in the market.
Fred is one of the highest rated speakers in the industry, receiving plaudits for highly relevant content and an entertaining presentation style. A member of the planning committees for several industry conferences, Fred presents frequently on macro trends and strategic topics with long-term implications for industry participants.
